From the very beginning, we’ve tried to make thoughtful choices about the materials we use and the way we do business.
Whenever feasible the materials in our products are recyclable or environmentally friendly—from the copper in our hummingbird feeders to the packaging we ship in, and even the way our website is hosted.
There are a few small exceptions, such as the cord used to hang our feeders and houses and the string used to tie our wind chimes. When alternatives become available that meet our standards for durability and quality, we’re always open to making improvements.
Our product boxes are made from 100% recycled fiberboard, and our shipping cartons are 100% recycled corrugated board. We use natural (non-bleached) packing tissue made from 100% recycled paper. Our site is built by our own hands without relying on resource intensive AI, and we intentionally avoid excessive “splashy” graphics that slow load times and use unnecessary bandwidth.
In our studio and gardens, we look for ways to reuse and repurpose whenever possible. We often save sturdy plastic buckets and pails from a local grocery store bakery—items that might otherwise be crushed and sent to a landfill. Many of our garden art pieces incorporate repurposed materials such as steel pipe, discarded wooden water skis, and other materials that deserve a second life rather than a place in the trash heap.
We also use organic practices in our gardens and herb beds. It doesn’t cost more, and since we eat what we grow, it simply makes sense to know exactly what we’re putting into our bodies.
This isn’t a recent shift or a marketing effort to earn support. It’s simply the way we’ve always chosen to operate—because it feels responsible, practical, and right for us.
Our products have always been, and will continue to be, created with an eco-conscious mindset.
Sincerely,
Phyllis and Tom
